The Conference
The 17th annual conference is an opportunity for teachers, principals and counselors to learn from each other about building the character of young people. These educators work to instill values of respect, responsibility, caring and other positive traits in their classrooms every day. At the conference they learn from other teachers, from role models, and are invigorated by international speakers.

Mission and Goal
The Character Education Conference is produced annually by CHARACTERplus, a division of Cooperating School Districts. Our mission is to to develop positive character traits in young people by providing a high quality character education process and resources to schools, homes, and communities. The goal is to involve our community, schools and homes in support of the development of positive character traits in our young people.

A Regional Gem
CHARACTERplus is the largest, most well known character education initiative in the nation, and one of the earliest to be established. In 1988, the first seeds were sown by a group of business leaders led by Sanford N. McDonnell, who today serves as chair of the CHARACTERplus Planning and Advisory Council. In addition to hosting the annual conference, CHARACTERplus works with over 130 school districts throughout Missouri and Illinois. It is the winner of Focus St. Louis’ What’s Right with the Region Award and is recognized nationally as a leader in effective character education.
