CharacterPlus Way® is an evidence-based process developed by CharacterPlus® to transform school climate, increase academic achievement, and reduce behavior referrals. The three-year process was the focus of a federally funded study, and the successful results led to CharacterPlus Way being listed on the prestigious National Registry of Evidence-based Programs and Practices (NREPP) and as a Promising Program with CASEL.
 

Customized on-site coaching and consultation services are at the core of the process. This allows schools to address their specific issues at a pace that works for their staff and students, ultimately leading to whole-school transformation.


The CharacterPlus Way goal is always sustainability, so schools can continue to see results long after we complete the process. Whether we are working with early childhood, elementary, middle, or high schools, those that achieve success with CharacterPlus Way have one thing in common: their leadership is very strongly committed to the process and to making staff time available for coaching and consulting.

THE PROCESS

The CharacterPlus Way® addresses and is proven to improve students’ pro-social behavior so they can develop healthy, positive relationships among peers and adults, demonstrate core values and have a strong sense of safety and belonging.

Readiness Phase
(1-6 months)

  • School Leadership Team (SLT) selected

  • Site visit

  • Planning

  • Baseline data collection and support

Implementation (Year 1)

  • Initial training for SLT and the whole staff

  • Customized PD based on school survey results, school needs, site visits, annual data collection, and reporting

  • Update action plan

Advanced (Year 2)

  • Advanced training for SLT and the whole staff

  • Customized PD based on school needs, site visits, annual data collection, and reporting

  • Update action plan

Sustainability (Year 3)

  • Sustainability training for SLT and the whole staff

  • Customized PD based on school needs, site visits, annual data collection, and reporting

  • Update action plan
